How & where do I apply Lume Deodorant?

Lume can be used anywhere externally you might have odor and wish you didn't! This includes underarms, private parts, feet, belly buttons & tummy folds -- you name it. Below are application directions for some of our most odor-prone areas, but feel free to experiment with where you want Lume to block odor on your body!

Underarm Application
"Priming" your skin with Lume Deodorant is essential at the start because it helps rid the skin of waxy residue from previous deodorants and also begins the process of preventing the reaction between bacteria & bodily fluids that causes odor on our skin. As a new user of Lume, you initially need to start out applying every day.

Elevate a trace amount of product from the Original Cream Stick or dispense a pea-sized amount of cream from the Cream Deodorant Tube. Apply to the center of your dry armpit and rub in with your fingertips just until clear (4-5 seconds.) Do this every day until you are odor-free for a period of 24 hours which can take anywhere from 4 - 14 days
. From there, you can experiment with how often you need or want to apply!

For the Solid Stick, we recommend using enough product to cover the entire hair-bearing area of the underarm and a bit beyond that for the best odor control possible.

Below is a picture that should give you an idea of how little of our Cream Deodorant you need. Here's a quick application demonstration video as well!

Private Parts Application

Just like we use traditional deodorant to control BO under our arms, we can use Lume Deodorant to control BO everywhere externally (never internally!) Anywhere skin touches skin is a place where odor might start and the is also the perfect place to apply Lume.

While Lume’s Solid Stick can be used anywhere on the external body just like the Original Cream Deodorant can, the Solid Stick was formulated and launched with underarms in mind. We recommend swiping a bit of product off the top of the Solid Stick and applying with fingertips if the application site is somewhere other than the underarms. Most customers prefer having both the Solid Stick and the Cream formula in their odor-blocking bag of tricks.

Vulva Application - Working from front to back (never work from back to front due to increased risk for urinary tract infections), apply to the clitoral hood & labia majora (not inside the vagina or around the urethra), continue back further to the perineum (the space between the rectum and vaginal opening), and sweep up between the butt cheeks to the tailbone.

Penis Application - Apply around the base of the penis and between the folds of the legs, work back to the space between the scrotum and rectum, and finally sweep back between the butt cheeks and up to the tailbone.

Foot Application
We recommend concentrating the pea-sized amount around your toes since that's the germiest & sweatiest part of your foot. If you want to apply to the whole foot, we would recommend using 2 peas. Here's a link to our blog post, "How To Get Rid of Your Smelly Feet" which you may find helpful!
